A Colorful & Casual Thanksgiving Brunch

AphroChic Thanksgiving Brunch

There are just a few more days until Thanksgiving, one of my favorite holidays.  I love that we get a day to let the people in our lives know just how much we appreciate them.  How cool is that?!  Recently, I wrote an article for HGTV.com on how to create a special Thankful Tree this Thanksgiving.  You can view the tutorial here.  The day that we shot the article, Bryan, my sister Angela, her husband Leon and I also pulled together an inspirational Thanksgiving brunch shoot to share with all of you.  Here are some ideas on how to create a colorful and casual Thanksgiving brunch or dinner this year.

My sister and I planned a modern tabletop display.  We decided to move beyond the traditional colors of orange and brown, and went with a bright coral and tan scheme, enlivened by AphroChic Haze Mimosa placemats.  All of the dishware was fun and modern - patterned melamine plates and colorful mini latte bowls from Anthropologie, luxe plastic knives and forks, and reusable solo cups (I love them!).

Even for an intimate gathering, we thought it would be fun to give everyone a place card.

We used die-cut chip-board from PaperSource and simply wrote everyone's name using a Sharpie.

Angela had the cool idea of creating a unique centerpiece with feathers.  She found a set of pastel arrows from Fletcher and Fox on Etsy.  The arrows were placed in clear bud vases, and added to the colorful and modern feel of the gathering.

Bryan and I designed the menu - roastbeef sliders, cornbread muffins, scrambled eggs with ham - all delicious dishes for Thanksgiving brunch.

We sipped on sparkling cranberry juice.  It's super sweet and yummy with Fall dishes.

The sliders looked so cute on this Jonathan Adler tray.

After the table was set it was time to eat.

I will always remember this day.  Even the smallest Thanksgiving can be a fun event when you're spending time with the people you love.

Don't forget to check out my Thankful Tree tutorial on HGTV.com.  I hope it's a new tradition that you can add to your gathering this year.  By the way, how is your Thanksgiving planning going?  How will you make your Thanksgiving special and unique this year?
