Over the Summer Solange Knowles' Brooklyn home was featured in Elle. I could not get enough, and actually wanted to see more of this songstress/DJ/photographer/model's abode. I was immediately struck by how Solange blends modern and rustic pieces in her interior. In the image above simple white chairs surround a modern rustic table. The dining room is topped off with a cool Malick Sidibe photograph. I am in love!
In the bedroom a vintage white bedframe is surrounded by a cool mix of African prints. The stool covered in African wax fabric is from Anthropologie, and the rug has an amazing mix of color and pattern.
Every home should have a gallery wall, and Solange has a simple one filled with oversized art. The art is a perfect complement to the cool gray sofa in the living room.
I love how cultural pieces have been integrated into every room in a modern way (so Brooklyn!). In the office a curtain with a kuba print design is being put to good use as a backdrop for photos with friends. Another nod to Sidibe who took portraits in front of textile backdrops. A photographer herself, I'm sure the symbolism was not lost on Solange.
To see more from Solange check out her blog. It's full of visual inspiration.
