Vacation

Friends, for the first time in two years the hubs and I are heading out of town for a proper non-work vacation.  One of the things I have learned as a business owner is that I am an absolute failure when it comes to taking a break.  I mean, even now I am writing this post at 12:00am, and have to get up in just three hours to catch a flight.  This year, I am committing myself to work better on getting more R&R.  Whether you own your own company or work for someone else, taking vacation is extremely important.  It's a time dedicated to renewing yourself, and in the end it will truly help you be more effective at whatever you do.  So, here's to a week where I'll be unplugged, thousands of miles away from home with little access to my iPhone and NO computer!  I would love to say you could find me on Twitter or Facebook, but I'm planning to unplug from social media too, and enjoy times with good friends, connecting the old fashioned way.

I hope you all have a great week, and while I'm away could you do me a favor?  We are still in the running for a Mission Small Business Grant through Chase and Living Social, and need your help to reach 250 votes by June 30th to get closer to qualifying for a $250,000 Grant. After clicking “Support” on the home page, look for AphroChic and vote for us.  If you voted for us, please let me know in the comment section.  When I get back next week, I really want to be able to thank each of you individually for your support.

Have a great week guys!

  3. I can totally relate. I am not good at taking breaks either. I could sit and write and work on this all day if you let me. Even when I am sick and need rest sometimes I'll keep on working. I've gotten better though. I'm in the process of creating a new routine, and part of that routine is setting some time to just kick back and relax. Well, I just read your most recent post, looks like you are back from you trip. I hope you enjoyed your time away and got that R&R you've been needing.
